I REMEMBER BETTY BYRD

Beautiful.  One who was courageous as she journeyed through life.

Energy was what she transmitted daily. Tranquil.  She remained calm even in the midst of adversity. Trustful.  She believed in her students and helped them to achieve. Youthful.  She was not afraid of venturing into the unknown. By: Bernadette C. O’Gilvie She is gone, but she will never be forgotten.   Although I am a bit late in posting my message, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to her family.  God will take care of you!

Betty was a fun, loving, and caring educator, who was determined to see children succeed, and was always there for them.  Her dedication to student achievement was never limited to the classroom.  She would always come to my office early in the morning and share with me her incredible knowledge and experience in teaching children.  I will always remember her passion for equity.  My family and I offer our deepest sympathy to Betty’s family and friends.

  Sincerely

I had the pleasure of working with Betty at The Elms J.M.S. when she first came from the United States.  Betty was one of those unique individuals who touched others lives and honestly made the world a better place.  I can only think how many lives she has had a positive impact on over her career.

In a short time at the Elms she made a difference and helped many students through difficult times.  Betty was truly a friend and helped me to be a better teacher.  I know she has gone to a better place; however, she has left a huge void behind that will be impossible to fill.

When I heard the news I was completely shocked.  I did not even know that Betty was sick.  I am comforted by the knowledge that I can think back to the fantastic memories I have of Betty and am truly blessed that I had the opportunity to work with her.

What more can I say - The world is a better place because Ms. BB was in it.  I will include your family in my thoughts and prayers.

As the days pass by, and as the memories come back to me, I start to remember how much times you brought smiles to my face. The tears we cry everyday for you and the tears of your family answer the question of ho much we love you. Your pain has disappeared and now your in a better place, but I know that you miss us and your family as much as we miss you.I feel that you are still going to walk through that door, all happy and cheerful. Now, I wonder if you're still happy like before. If I could write down all my feelings of you or my memories of you, it would go on forever because you were so special. You'll always be here with us, in our hearts, and in our minds. We Will Miss You Alot Ms. BB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mz BB was called a behaviour teacher but she mostly nurtured hurt souls. She made you laugh, always had those little dance moves and I see her smile and  laugh today. Ms. BB was a truly unque individual who touched many lives and stood up for what she believed in and for justice. I always hoped she would be hired as a consultant so that she could guide other educators in how to treat kids and guide them to bring out the very best in them. She belived in evry student she ever worked with. I'm still shocked that she is gone and very sad. RIP Betty!

Where do i even start ?
Ms. B;B was a wonderful teacher [ person ]  and im really thankful to have gotten to know her. When i heard about her passing away, i couldnt hold back the tears, i had to let it all out because it was such a shock. Before she left to go to Michigan, she seemed absolutely fine. Still dancing and singing all over the place, and always having that beautiful smile on her face. Im truely going to miss seeing her every morning, and getting those big hugs from her. Im also going to miss hearing her every morning on the p.a system singing the sunrise song. She's the one that told us the meaning of that song was to thank god for waking up each morning" but even though she have passed and is in a better place now, her song will still be sung every morning. Also when i think about her, that's what makes me want to succeed in life because she was truely an inspiration and she has really made a positive impact on my life and a lot others. Beverley doesnt seem the same without her here.

R.I.P Ms. Betty L. Byrd.

Betty was one in a million!  She was a colleague, a teacher, a friend.  She was a shoulder to lean on, get advice from, an inspiration for how life was meant to be lived.  We should all take a page from her book: live life to the fullest; be greatful for every day that we have lived and live life for yourself by loving and doing for others.  This is what I've learned from you Ms. B.B.  You have touched my life, and for that I will be forever thankful.  My heart and prayers go out to your family and for all those that feel the void that you have left behind in your passing.  Rest well, my friend, you deserve it!

Mz. BB was one of the BEST teachers that i've ever came across, Mz. BB was a very respectful woman and, was what I really call a teacher she didn't only teach what she was tolled to teach she went above and by one that.  I'm actually honored to know Mz. BB, its so sad to see her go but she in a better place.  Mz. BB thought me alot of stuff one is to give god thanks for each day which she did by singign the SUNRISE SONG and we're going to miss hearing you on the school's annoucements ever morining and having your great energy around.  Mz BB you always tolled me I can do  it and to keep believing in myself.  My sypathy goes out to Mz. BB's family, Mz.BB will be someone I will never forget "WE LOVE YOU Mz. BB AND WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU YOUR ALWAYS IN OUR HEARTS" God Bless you and may you Rest In Great Peace and i'll see you one day in heaven!!!

A prayer for you, Ms. BB.
My Lord God,
I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end.
Nor do I really know myself,
and the fact that I think I am following Your will
does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please You does in fact please You.
And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing.
I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.
And I know that, if I do this,
You will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it.
Therefore I will trust You always though I may seem to be lost and in
the shadow of death.
I will not fear, for You are ever with me, and
You will never leave me to face my perils alone.

Amen

Mz. B.B., I am grateful to have met you in my first year teaching at Beverley Heights.  You have changed my life by inspiring, showing me how you love and trully care about the students, with and without instructing.  You embrace everyone with your spirit of giving and sharing, as well as an immense sense of humour.  You also took the initiative to offer your help for my first Christmas music concert at Beverley which I deeply appreciated and e-mailed me many times really early in the morning (usually at round 5am) writing "don't worried, I will give you my full support:)"  I'll miss your beautiful singing, doing morning annoucements with students, planning assemblies with you, cheering me up whenever I see you at school, smile....full of energy and zest for life.........You will always remain fondly in my heart!   Rest in very good Hands and in Peace!  Missing you........E.      Ms.BB was a great teacher. She was fun and us the students really enjoyed her as a teacher. But she put her foot down when needed adn thats one of her traits that will always be remembered. I just wish we could have finished our huddle up program with her by our sides. Without Ms.BB Beverley is not the same. If her children are reading this I just want to say on behalf of our school we thank her for all her hard work, effort and time she has put in to the school and us.

Betty was my next-door neighbour for her first 2 years at Beverley Hts. Middle School. She was in room 102, I in 104, where Mr. Appadoo's class is presently. She began with Behaviour stdts., until this year when she moved upstairs. We had lots of chats and lots of fun, and even alot of dancing and short dance competitions (she was always a better dancer! ). Yes, in the hallway as stdts. laughed and cheered us on. Betty was the most animated teaching colleague I've ever known. She was incredibly and genuinely warm with everybody, and yes, an amazing hugger. I got to know other things about her, as her neighbour, that I will keep to myself and treasure these among my memories of her. She had a deep love for music, especially Jazz, that, I as a musician and music teacher, shared with her. We would always talk about Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong and others. She had a lovely Jazz singing voice that, I'm certain, she would only share with me. She had alot of musical talent and also was a former majorette, among her other accolades. I used to love when we would harmonize O' Canada together when we would sing it together in the morning, on occasion. She used to have too much fun with my fur coat and always commented on my fashion sense (or lack thereof!) which is something we enjoyed talking about and one-upping each other with. She sure was quite the dresser!!! I wasn't too happy when she moved upstairs as contact was alot less, and as most people know, I can be (a bit?) unavailable at times. But we chatted, danced, sang, and had fun when we could. I really loved preparing the Remembrance Day assemblies with her, and others naturally. She, as I, was extemely serious about this very important day, and was always determined to make the assembly more meaningful every year. We had a few "bumps" along the way, but nothing serious and we would always laugh about these later. I will miss her deeply. May God bless her.

At first i thought Mz.BB would come back with that gorgeous smile to teach my drama class again.. since my teacher told my whole class the news, i was very shocked.. though i feel like i was about to burst in tears.. Mz.BB wanted everyone in beverly to enjoy life and i'm so proud of her for helping every one of us to acheive our goals and believe we can do well in our future. I pray that she is allright and she is in a safe, beautiful place... i miss her so much.. i couldn't believe that she lost her battle... but i think Mz.BB is the best fun and energenic person you'll ever meet...from now on, the song she sang every morning in our school announcements will always be in our hearts.. she will never be forgotten...

I miss Ms.BB. Every day when I came to work there she was with her big smile and her positive outlook like a ray of sunshine. As much as I know the students learned from her she also taught me many things. Ms. BB was always willing to listen to a problem and offer some useful suggestions. I am grateful that I had the benefit of her wisdom and experience these last couple years. My sympathies to her family for their great loss.

Betty, a wonderful friend. A kind, beautiful person.  The coolest, funniest. A sister, a kindred spirit.  Betty was not just a colleague, she was a close friend.  We spent lots of time together shopping, eating, laughing, just hanging out together.  She took me to her home town, talked about her children with me, ahared her past and some of her dreams.  I loved her and I will miss her terribly. Betty loved children with a passion.  She always took the time to greet them and to make them feel special.  She was one of those teachers who was not in it for the money but for the advancement of children.  She will be greatly missed

How I met Betty Byrd:

i knew Ms.Byrd for two in a half years and she is a great teacher. When it's time to get down to business she's your women. Ms.Byrd has given us so much it's about time we pay our respect and give it back, i know for a fact if some of us knew we would go back in time and change anything we probably wish we didn't do to Ms.Byrd. The last time i seen Ms.Byrd was when she picked a group of us to perform a song called "low", and we might have gone to other schools to perform this, but we didn't see her from then. Ms.Byrd your funny jokes, great personailty, attuide, beautiful looks, and eyepoping styles of fashion.
